More Divas Remixed

I love my divas, and when they are remixed well, it makes me happy. I've been holding on to some of these remixes for far too long, so I thought it was time for another mega-post of remixed divas.

We'll start off with one of the biggest dance music icons of all time, Madonna. Just received this remix a few days ago from a couple of producers from Spain. A fresh take on "Music".

Madonna - Music (Botz & Flydrums & Dani Villa Remix) [click to download]

Beyonce is a big diva and she gets her track appropriately titled "Diva" remixed by Whatever Whatever.

Another big circuit remix from Ranny, this time he remixes "Jealous of My Boogie" by RuPaul.

Thee-O & Jan Van Lier - Baila

What Thee-O had to say about producing this track:

I have been looking forward to this one coming out. Jan Van Lier and I have known each other for a few years. I have admired his work quite a bit. After hooking up again at WMC 09 in Miami, we both came back to California (him in Northern and of course I, in Southern) vowing to work on some tracks together. Well it was just a week or so after Miami when our first collaboration took place. I grew up listening to salsa music. It was always playing at my Grandparents house where I would spend my summers as a youth and it was the soundtrack to every family party I can remember. The music is in my blood. I have been wanting to put some of that sound in my productions for a while and with Baila we did just that. I started off the track in my laptop and then sent the parts to Jan to continue on the track on his system. We then kept going back and fourth until we were both happy with the track. Selling this track to Nuhar was a dream as their sound is totally what I am after. Having Paolo Driver do the remix was another dream come true. I hope you enjoy this track. I have to say it was a pleasure to make it.

New album from Andy Caldwell

Andy Caldwell is releasing a new artist album, Obsession, on his label - Uno Recordings. The album will be released digitally on October 20th, with a physical release date of November 3rd.

As a songwriter, producer, classically trained pianist and trumpeter, remixer, DJ and label owner (of the recently re-launched Uno Recordings), LA-based producer Andy Caldwell has thrown his hat into many rings over the course of his 15+ year career. Somehow, after circling the globe several times and playing more than 100 shows a year, Andy Caldwell also found the time to pen Grammy Nominated songs and even once shared the stage with James Brown. With so many musical reference points to choose from, and during one of the most turbulent periods in our planet’s history, Andy Caldwell has shifted towards a tougher sound to match the times.

In a move that’s bound to make waves, Caldwell drifts away from the soulful, San Francisco sun-soaked side of house music and instead travels down the road of a tougher, more European inspired sound. These 11 tracks showcase Caldwell’s pop songwriting skills and features collaborations from the likes of Mr. V (Strictly Rhythm, MAW Records), Gram’ma Funk (voice of Groove Armada’s “I See You Baby”) and emerging talents Storm Lee, Femke, Mr. J. Madeiros and Alexander Skye (Madeiros is best know in the roots/hip hop scene with a group called "Procussions" on Rawkus while Skye is a former child actor from the sitcom Charles In Charge.)

"My sound has been changing over the last few years," Caldwell says. "I got more into the electronic sound with the European house scene and wanted to express that in an album. I was really feeling stagnant creatively and broke out of the soulful house shackles about a year ago."

Obsessions tracklisting

1. Black Diamond Sky (feat. Storm Lee)
2. Obsession
3. It’s Guud (feat. Mr. V)

New GusGus album 24/7 out now!

GusGus saw the light of day for the first time in 1995, during a break in the making of the shortcut "Pleasure". Initially GusGus was as a multimedia collective that combined sexually tinged dance music with visual arts and shorts made by the group's members.

A self-titled debut album appeared on their Kjól & Anderson imprint in conjunction with the screening of "Pleasure" and immediately caused a buzz on the scene in their native land. Eventually it's euphoric grooves and sensual beats reached the demanding ears of UK's 4AD Records that signed the band in 1996. Since the release of their 4AD debut and second album, "Polydistortion", the collective started touring relentlessly to a wide acclaim that has been enforced to this day.

1999 brought the highly acclaimed and anticipated "This Is Normal". By then the group had become celebrated remixers with mixes of fellow native stars Björk and Sigur Rós and also the international ones like Depeche Mode, Pizzicato 5 and Moloko up their sleeves.

Their fourth studio effort, "Attention", featured a new line-up and a new female vocalist, Urður "Earth" Hákonardóttir. Being a foursome GusGus became enormously focused on the thing that made the group known in the first place, the music.

They released their fifth album, Forever, in February 2007. Forever brought more streamlined grooves into the sound world of GusGus and anthems like "Need in Me" and "Moss". GusGus maintained a steady presence to the public and their massive following as DJs. “Forever” was released on Pineapple Records and followed by massive touring where the band performed the tour circuit including major festivals like Glastonbury, Split, Creamfields and Benecassim.

Now with their sixth album, “24/7” they join the Kompakt family.

2009 sees GusGus as a new experience in sound and vision brought forth by Daníel Ágúst, President Bongo and Veiran.

24/7 tracklisting

1. Thin Ice
2. Hateful
3. On The Job
4. Take Me Baby (feat. Jimi Tenor)
5. Bremen Cowboy
6. Add This Song

Massive Attack to release new EP on October 6th

from the press release:

Legendary trip-hop duo Massive Attack have announced the release of their first new material in three years – an EP of four new tracks due for release on October 6th from Virgin Records. The lead song “Splitting The Atom” features Robert Del Naja (3D), Grant Marshall (Daddy G) and Horace Andy, while TV On The Radio frontman Tunde Adebimpe guests on “Pray For Rain”. The EP also has remixes of two new tracks; “Psyche” featuring Martina Topley-Bird is given the re-rub by Van Rivers & The Subliminal Kid who have recently remixed Bat For Lashes and The Big Pink, while the Guy Garvey fronted “Bulletproof Love” is stripped back to a minimalist reworking by Christoff Berg, who alongside Van Rivers & The Subliminal Kid produced the Fever Ray eponymous album.

Massive Attack will release their much anticipated fifth studio album in February of 2010. This time around sees collaborations with Damon Albarn, Hope Sandoval, Martina Topley-Bird, Guy Garvey and Tunde Adebimpe.

Over the last three years Robert Del Naja has written and produced soundtracks for a number of films and documentaries, including ‘Trouble In The Water’, ’44 Inch Chest’, ‘In Prison My Whole Life’ and ‘Gamorra’, the latter for which he won the David Di Donatello Award for Best Song. Earlier this year, Massive Attack won the Outstanding Contribution to British Music Award at the Ivor Novello Awards. Massive Attack will headline this year’s Bestival on Friday, September 11th ahead of their first full UK tour in three years that begins on September 17th in London.

Rex the Dog - Bubblicious remix

Got a remix and the original version of 'Bubblicious' by Rex the Dog. These went around the blogs a while ago, but just wanted to post them up because it's a fun song.

The original is a fun electro-pop song. Jesper Dahlbäck's remix is a funky hypnotic techno version.
