Si Begg - The Bleeps

Si Begg is about to drop a HUGE new track, 'The Bleeps' featuring remixes from Shades of Rhythm and Unique 3. The track has already received airplay on KISS FM and BBC Radio 1 and it is being played out and supported by The Plump DJs, who are going to include the song in their next compilation.

Si Begg – ‘The Bleeps’ Tracklisting:

1: The Bleeps (Original)
2: The Bleeps (Unique 3’s Theme Park remix)
3: The Bleeps (Shades of Rhythm remix)
4: The Bleeps (Si Begg Warehouse VIP 4/4 acid electro remix)

Label: Mutate Records
Release Date: August 3rd, 2009

I received a promo copy to preview and DJ with, and I must say, all four versions are solid. The original mix is a nice chunky breakbeat affair with a fun vocal sample. 'The Bleeps' is aptly named, as the track has bleeps all up in it, taking it on a futuristic funky trip.

The Unique 3 "Theme Park remix" puts even more chunk in the bump, beefing up the bass line and infusing some fresh variety to the bleeps. It also uses the vocal sample a little more extensively. The Shades of Rhythm remix takes it back to the old school breakbeat days. Si Begg contributes the final remix with a BIG 4/4 electro house influenced remix. This remix has the bassline to throw any club or party into a frenzy.

[free mp3] New Bassnectar Heat!

Got a fresh new free track from Bassnectar, complete with a Lupe Fiasco vocal sample.

What Bassnectar says about the track:

“I took the beat of a long-overdue unreleased tune called “Stretch Reflex” and melted it together with the synths and melodies from another song that was supposed to be on Underground Communication, but ended up getting saved for later. It was written as a pensive homage to the dead, the original melodics sound like a black metal song but in this version they have kind of a nice 1990’s Orb or FSOL feel to them…that sound will never get old for me! Then i took some of the prettier melodies from that song and mixed them with a Lupe Fiasco acapella (i looooove his voice) and it became one of my favorite tunes to close a party with.

So this week we give to you ‘Land of the Lupes’ which is the working title of this goofily random combination of sounds, and an unrelated homage to one of my favorite bands in the world, Land of the Loops. It will most likely be included as an instrumental on the upcoming album this fall, and that “Stretch Reflex” beat will most likely be released on my website as a DJ Tools & Loops collection.”

Ross D releases new drum-n-bass album

from the press release:

Playloop Records recording artist and Philadelphia native Ross D is bringing back that classic UK drum-n-bass sound of the mid-90’s golden age with his debut artist album, Musical D-lite. There are no fads here, no bells or whistles and no sub-sub-sub genres to confuse you by. No, this is simply drum-n-bass at it’s purest and most beautiful. No doubt the thick layers of jazz and soul will take you back in time to that time when you first heard licks from LTJ Bukem and his classic original Logical Progression compilation.

Ross D has always been musically inclined, having an extensive music education background in drums, piano, classical guitar, bass and music theory. However, one thing you can’t teach is soul, and there’s nothing better than the kind of Philly soul Ross D deftly infuses over the jagged beats.

Ross D - Musical D-Lite tracklisting

01) Smooth Talker
02) Be There
03) Here I Am
04) Love Child
05) So Fine
06) To The Stars
07) The 215
08) Wait Ok Go
09) Stay
10) I Need You

Thee-O - Reminders Of You

New big tune from Thee-o!

What Thee-O had to say about this release::

Very proud of this release. I have had a lot of respect for Jondi & Spesh and their lable Looq Records out of San Francisco. They have forged their own path with their label, not focusing on genre but focusing on unique and moving music. So glad that they thought one of my tracks would be a ideal fit for their one of a kind sound. "Reminders Of You" is a progressive-tech track with a melody that gets caught in your head. On the remix tip we got some great stuff by Yellowcake, Yan Lhert and Dawn Voyager. This release reached number 7 in the Top 20 chart. Very happy with this package and I hope you are also.

Selected Feedback:

"Very Good. Like the mixture of sounds." - Chloe Harris (Bedrock)

"More quality from Thee-O. He is on fire at the moment"- Ben Coda (Baroque)

"Nice vibe. Like the mixture of sound in thease" - Andy Newland (Ministry of Sound)

"Great stuff from Thee-O" - Xaric (Stripped Records)

Underworld - live tour dates, free mp3, music videos and more!

August 2009 sees Underworld and Apple kicking-off on three exciting new projects for fans of the band and fans of all things Apple.

To celebrate the release of the full Underworld back catalog for the first time on iTunes, Underworld, in partnership with cutting edge developer iZotope, bring you an amazing iPhone iDrum application containing some of the most famous tunes from Underworld's juke box of techno classics.

Featuring tracks from all Underworld's albums and including 'Born Slippy', 'Two Months Off' and 'Cowgirl', the application allows the user to remix, re-sequence and reconstruct 12 Underworld tunes and also features a piece created by the band themselves exclusively for the application.

With specially commissioned artwork from Tomato's John Warwicker the application is the closest you'll get to dropping the kick drum on 'Born Slippy' without getting on stage with the guys yourself. In celebration, Underworld are giving away a special live version of 'Born Slippy' recorded at Brixton Academy and have announced North American dates this August, including (technology permitting!) the worlds first FREE live audio-visual broadcast to the iPhone on Friday August 7, 2009, as Underworld continue their series of incredible live broadcasts at The Fox Oakland Theater.

Direct from the Fox Theatre in Oakland and accessible through Underworldlive.com check out the bands legendary show featuring some of the biggest dance hits of the last 15 years and maybe some future hits for 2010.

This is completely free and all you need is a computer with Quick Time installed on a broadband connection or an iPhone on a wi-fi connection running iPhone 3.0 or higher.

August 6th @ The Joint in Las Vegas, NV

August 7th @ Fox Oakland Theater in Oakland, CA

August 8th @ Hardfest in Los Angeles, CA

We have a nice variety of songs to share with you today, so lets get on with the music!

First up we have 'So Deep' by MSTRKRFT with some additional vocals from Colin Munroe. This makes for a great electro-pop song.

This Nelly Furtado remix from vzaem is a nice downtempo version.

This remix from DJ Red & Josh Dupont is another big club track. These two producers from Houston have been sending us their remix and production work for a while and it is all top notch. This remix is no exception, with nice crisp percussion and a solid bassline. There is almost an eerie feel to the synth and vocals. I will be playing this track a lot. This track was released a few months ago on Giant Squid Records and is available as a full release from Beatport.

Joe Dismal - Not Sure (DJ Red & Josh Dupont remix) [click to download]

This last one is a nice tech house club track from Da Fresh, a producer from France.

MPHO

{MPHO}

from the press release:

MPHO is a British talent like no other. A genre-defying singer, songwriter and producer, she has enormous global crossover pop potential.

Her debut single on Parlophone/Wall of Sound, ‘Box N Locks’ was produced by Switch. The track samples the legendary guitar hook from the Martha and the Muffins new wave hit, ‘Echo Beach’.

MPHO was born in apartheid South Africa and raised in a racially mixed family of musicians and political activists in Brixton. Her life story is as colourful as her music, but the overriding theme of both has been MPHO's determination to find her own space, to define herself on her own terms.

So right from the release of her first single she's wasting no time in blowing apart some of the stereotypes she's found most restrictive. On ‘Box N Locks’ MPHO kicks against the boxes people put her in, and the locks they tried to use to keep the lid on her talent.

The remix package for the track features mixes by Armand Van Helden, Ocelot and Crazy Couzinz.

MPHO’s striking debut album, ‘Pop Art’ will be out in the fall. Co-produced and co-written by MPHO, the album features a whole host of contemporary producers and writers from Switch (M.I.A., Santo(i)gold), and Future Cut (Dizzee Rascal, Kate Nash, Lily Allen) to Rick Nowels (Belinda Carlisle, Andre 3000, Dido) and Rob Davis (Kylie).

And by the way, her name...it’s pronounced Mmmm-poh. You’ll be hearing it everywhere!

Lily Allen

Lily Allen is a talented singer from Britain who released her second full-length album, "It's Not Me, It's You" earlier this year.

At the age of 24, she has taken the pop world by storm. Her latest album tackles such social issues as racism, ageism and drug dependency. Her lighter side can be heard on such songs as 'Not Fair' which is about premature ejaculation.

Please enjoy a couple of her latest music videos, as well as the original version of 'Fuck You' and two remixes of 'Not Fair'.

An acclaimed maker of “intricate, subtle mood music”, according to his label Ninja Tune Records, Simon Green became interested in music as a teenager, copying the music from television adverts and programmes. While at art college in Brighton, Sussex, Green began to construct some of the music that would form Bonobo’s initial output (he took his recording moniker from the name of an obscure chimpanzee). He became friends with Rob Luis, the man behind the UK breakbeat label Tru Thoughts. His initial release on the label appeared on their compilation, When Shapes Join Together, and was followed by the notably well-received “Terrapin”. This sitar led track was something of a breakthrough for Green, and received a remix from acclaimed DJ/producer, Mr. Scruff. Bonobo’s 2000 debut, Animal Magic, also appeared on Tru Thoughts and was a great critical success, with the UK’s The Observer newspaper commenting, “anyone in search of the ultimate summer chill-out album should buy this debut”.

A little bit of everything for you in this one, five free tracks in all!

I'll start things off with another remix of 'Boom Boom Pow' by Black Eyed Peas. This remix we got from Christian Luke. I really like this version, and despite the myriad number of remixes out there, I am not tired of this song yet. 'Boom Boom Pow' is probably going to make Dancefloor Mayhem's Top Ten list at the end of the year, along with 'In For The Kill' by La Roux and 'Trouble is a Friend' by Lenka. Have had lots of good versions of all three tracks!

This last track is from Alexipharmic, whose album, American Beauty, was released earlier this year. Not only does the album feature P.O.S. (of Rhymesayers & Doomtree) Braille, Grynch, and Cas One, as well as production from MGI, Budo, Elliot B, DJ Figure, and Infekt, but behind all of Alex's musical aspirations is a compulsion to use hip hop as a way to give back to the interwoven human condition.

{American Beauty album cover}

Most of American Beauty was written while on a 30 state, 10,000-mile road trip. Throughout the journey Alex interviewed countless men, women, and children of all walks of life at each stop. He ended up weaving the broad spectrum of the stories he recorded on the road with his own unique personal experiences. The result is an album that breathes with energy and ambition, and reflects the hopes, broken dreams, unity, division, optimism and voice of our current society.

Alexipharmic has worked on the Save Darfur project and he has donated 50% of his musical proceeds to charity. To date, thousands have been raised for many worthy causes. The 2009 American Beauty Tour will partner with Feed the Children and Alexipharmic will donate 100% of the tour’s net proceeds to combat child hunger and homelessness in America.
