LA Riots is an electro production and DJ duo from LA. Well-known in LA for their amazing DJ sets, this duo is not to be overlooked. They already have an impressive slew of remixes under their belts, including work for such artists as Chromeo, Hot Chip, Kylie Minogue, Justice, The Ting Tings, Crystal Castles, Kid Sister, Le Castle Vania and Photek.
Available now is the mix CD, Electro 2, on Thrive Records, mixed by LA Riots. This mix includes tracks from LCD Soundsystem, The Bravery, Justice, Daft Punk, N.E.R.D. and more. They have also done a mix CD for Scion and are signed to Fool's Gold Records.
We'd like to share a couple of their remixes and original tracks with you. Grab these now!
Chromeo - Bonafied Lovin' (LA Riots remix) :: There are lots of remixes of this great track floating around the net, but few I actually recommend. This one stays true to the original while adding some fun and unique elements. I love the vocal chops and all the synth stabs. This is a really fun remix!
Justice feat. Uffie - The Party (LA Riots remix) :: Ah Justice. Hailed as the second coming of Daft Punk, Justice has blown up in the last couple of years with a live show that met with rave reviews. This track features the vocals of Uffie and the remix by LA Riots is intended for the dancefloors of the world. They did a great job of keeping the lyrics in tact and injecting their own flavor into the mix.
LA Riots feat. Jadis - If I Could :: This is a GREAT vocal electro track. Download and listen to this one right now. Fun to listen to in the club, at home, in the car, at work....you get the picture. You'll have this track on repeat if you like it as much as I do!
LA Riots - Kill Bill :: Another LA Riots original production, Kill Bill is a fun track with some snippets from the movie in it.

Studio Apartment is a production duo from Japan that makes some dope house beats. In addition to studio production and remix work, the duo also DJs and plays live shows. They also host a bi-monthly party called Museum @ Yellow in Tokyo which has attracted a number of great guest artists including: Quentin Harris, DJ OJI, Reel Pepole, Joi Cardwell, DJ Spen, Kimara Lovelace, Tiger Stripes, DJ Fudge, and Josh Milan (Blaze).
Their soulful house productions have delivered many a floor-filling groove and Studio Apartment has built up a reputation as one of the finest deep house artists in Japanese dance music today.
They have released 4 full-length albums of studio material, and their most recent release, 'The Rising Sun', is a very special collection of remixes and unreleased tracks. The album features Studio Apartment's finest studio moments, reworked by a who's who of deep house including Kerri Chandler, Eric Kupper, Quentin Harris, Mr. V's Soul Channel, Reel People & Nulife.
Please enjoy these sample tracks from 'The Rising Sun'.
Studio Apartment - Beautiful Sunrise (Quentin Harris Reproduction) :: A nice deep house cut featuring some female vocals that feel like they float right on the top of the track. A nice chunky beat to get your body moving.
Studio Apartment - I'm In Love (Rasmus Faber Epic remix) :: This one has a male vocal that gives this track a hands-in-the-air vibe. Very soulful track with a great beat.
Studio Apartment - Found Him (Kerri Chandler Bigga Vocal mix) :: An epic re-working from a true deep house legend. This mix clocks in at just over 11 minutes in length! It starts off nice and chill with a piano intro, then at about 45 seconds in, the beat kicks in and the vocal comes in soon after that. A nice retro piano-house vocal track with some jazzy horns.

Headburn is a DJ and producer from Germany.
He is part of The Mighty Vybz, a production and DJ Crew. He has been producing music for about 3 years. He blends elements from many musical genres together, so that the sound is never boring, from House to Crunk over Hip Hop to Electro. Headburn's main focus is to get people to dance! He does remixes and original productions, and has been kind enough to share his music with us. We've got remixes of Justin Timberlake and Kanye West feat. Daft Punk, along with two original Headburn tracks and an original track from The Mighty Vybz.
Justin Timberlake - My Love (Headburn Remix) :: A very well done uptempo remix of this track which does a great job of keeping the original vocal piece intact.
Buy Justin Timberlake music from the Itunes store by clicking below:
Kanye West feat. Daft Punk - Stronger (Headburn remix) :: A fun beat, this track contains more elements of 'Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger' than it does of the elements from the Kanye West version. A nice quick treat to drop on the floor. Good bassline.
Buy Kanye West from the Itunes store by clicking below:
Buy Daft Punk music from the Itunes store by clicking below:
Headburn - Revolverheld :: A short but sweet electro track that will twist your head.
Headburn - Drift King 2000 :: Another banger! Great energy on this track. A big dancefloor tune!
The Mighty Vybz - Trash Blazers :: A good club bangin' electro track with a nice techno influence. Love the breakdowns on this one.
Be sure to visit Headburn on MySpace!
...and it case you missed them, here are some previous posts featuring::
Justin Timberlake - Randy Boyer Club and Dub remixes of 'SexyBack'
Madonna Remixed - a full album worth of Madonna songs remixed by The Remix Kid, including a remix of '4 Minutes' featuring Justin Timberlake.

Project Cyborg is a music production duo from Belgium that is ready to take over the world. They make electro beats that are ready for the club. The duo produces remixes and original productions as well as hosting parties as the Project Cyborg Corporation. They have been kind enough to share their music, so let's get to it! We've got two remixes - one is a remix of Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, and the other is a Beastie Boys remix. We've also got two original Project Cyborg tracks.
Dr. Dre feat. Snoop Dogg - The Next Episode (Project Cyborg remix) :: A great uptempo version with a bangin' wobbly electro house bassline, some fun blips and bloops for all the cyborgs and robots and vocal snippets proclaiming "The West Coast is back!"
Buy Dr. Dre music from the Itunes store by clicking the button below:
Buy music from Snoop Dogg from the Itunes store by clicking the link below:
Beastie Boys - Super Disco Breakin' (Project Cyborg remix) :: "Money makin', super disco breakin'!" This remix is a little toned down compared to the Dre and Snoop remix, but still a lot of fun. These remixes aren't cut-up enough for me to label them as fidget house, but I think people who are fans of Bryan Cox and the Crux label will also like these Project Cyborg remixes.
Buy Beastie Boys tracks from the Itunes store by clicking the button below:
Project Cyborg - Feels So Cyborg :: An original track featuring the Project Cyborg wobbly bassline and a vocal snippet claiming to "Feel so comfortable". I feel comfortable when I am dancing to electro house tracks like this.
Project Cyborg - Angerland 3000 :: This one is a crazy 4/4 electro banger that distorts and filters out in the middle and then builds back up and bangs back in with a vengeance!
Be sure to also visit Project Cyborg on Myspace!

Minimal is a term that has become more and more popular recently, but the concept of 'minimal' music has been around for at least 50 years. Minimal to me, means sparse production, building a track with a few key elements. When it comes to electronic / dance music, the primary minimal genre is techno. Pioneered by Richie Hawtin, and currently championed by such industry heavyweights as John Digweed, Ellen Allien and Trentemøller.
Minimal is by no means limited to techno, as ambient music as a genre can be considered minimal, as well as dub.
The first producer we are going to highlight in this post is Awggie. Awggie hails from Bothell, WA, which is outside of Seattle. He has been DJ-ing since 2002 and started producing once he found his sound - a mix of minimal, tech and acid house.
He shared a couple of tracks with us and we loved them, so of course we have to share them with you.
Awggie - The Crunchy Cantelope
Awggie - Dirty Little Girl
Be sure to also check out Awggie on MySpace!
Next up is T-rain - a producer from Russia. His style is a little more on the minimal progressive tip, and I love it.
T-rain - Delayed
You can visit T-Rain on MySpace and Virb.
We are going to end the post with an introduction to Lulu Rouge - a production duo from Copenhagen.
Lulu Rouge is DJ T.O.M. and Buda, two of the most respected DJs and producers on the Copenhagen scene. Both of these two travellers have been around crashing club land for a decade and a half. Recently DJ T.O.M has been Trentemøller’s partner for the last 3 years straight touring the world in nearly every major club you can think of - weekend after weekend.
Buda has been in several bands and constellations in his past. The ground breaking chill-out band Banzai Republic needs to be mentioned here for their release “Where The Fun Starts Early In The Day”, an album featuring Al Jarreau, Bukka White and Cesaria Evoria amongst others. Artists such as Bliss, Laid Back, TelepopMusik, Phil Mison, Sergio Mendez, Cirque de Soleil and Ganga has also been blessed by Buda’s production skills.
With their music and productions these two chess playing gentlemen are represented on more than 100 of the biggest compilations worldwide. For instance series like Global Underground, Costes, BBC Blue Sessions, Luftkastellet, Mambo and Buddha Bar. Today the 2 DJ heads, producers and long time friends have decided to join forces and put all the chips on one number; Lulu Rouge. Thus creating one of the most interesting and refreshing sounds coming out of Scandinavia.

Into Infinity's producers invite people to download the exhibit's works and use them as source material for their own creations.
"Into Infinity is all about embracing the infinite possibilities of art and music," says Mark McNeill, dublab's founder. "These works are available to everyone in the world to reshape, remix, and redesign as many times over as possible. We can't wait to see all of the creative ways people use them."
"Sampling, remixing, and repurposing other people's work has resulted in some of the greatest art of our times," says Eric Steuer, Creative Commons' creative director. "With this project, we want to make the statement that this sort of creativity should not only be legal, but also explicitly encouraged."
Into Infinity's producers add that new works made from assets offered online will be eligible for submission to the exhibit.
"As the show regenerates and expands, we'll incorporate the best remixes into the show for display online and in our real-world exhibitions," says McNeill.

Culture Prophet is an electro duo that makes some seriously heavy dancefloor riot music.
Culture Prophet bio (from their website):
Culture Prophet began in 2004 as a release for Michael Barksdale's funkier inclinations. He had been pursuing his electronic-pop dreams with his Le Chevre project, but soon enough turned his attention full-time to the beat, and was reborn as "The Prophet". He subsequently enlisted the services of Swuan De Noisey (Backseat Dreamer) on drums, and Culture Prophet began performing as a duo throughout the Southeastern United States. After dozens of sweaty, near-riotous performances and several signature remixes of their contemporaries, Culture Prophet began to get noticed. They have been mentioned by influential blogs, remixed by other artists, played by DJs worldwide, and praised by the electro-loving internet community at large. With the addition of Chicago's Dag Joe in 2008, the group got even deeper into the groove.
Culture Prophet currently performs their live act mostly as a duo once again, with Dag Joe at the controls, and The Prophet up front (and out of control). They have also teamed up to DJ massive parties and hold down their own residency, combining their own remixes and edits with personal influences and favorites. Culture Prophet DJ sets are always unpredictable in their loving coupling of the hottest new electro joints with classics and underground tracks from the entire history of dance music, and they never fail to leave the crowd exhausted and turned-on to music they may have never heard before.
To catch them in their element performing live and rocking out behind the decks, be sure to catch Culture Prophet coming soon to a city near you:

Top 3 tracks for July 2008 from inALLcaps.com
My name is Mookie, and I am one of the staff writers for an MP3 blog called inALLcaps.com. July was our first full month in existence! We are having fun expanding your music library. Thank you to dancefloormayhem for letting us highlight our Top 3 favorites.
Here are our Top 3 songs from the past month:
On July 3 we featured Katy Perry. She is still on the Warped tour and is obviously gonna be a force to be reckoned with in the top 40 radio categories. We hated the album. But this remix we found of "I Kissed a Girl" courtesy of Dr. Luke and Benny Blanco is hot!

At inALLcaps.com we are suckers for bands that have cellos. No really...they kick ass. Especially if the lead singer sounds like Johnny Cash! Check out my favorite song from the band Murder by Death. It's called "Coming Home". Turn it up loud!

There is a lot of garbage on the radio. And unfortunately there are so many great bands that rarely see the light of day. We think this band is awesome and deserves to be on the radio over bands like Puddle of Mudd and Slipknot. Four Year Strong are a kick ass rock band that sport badd ass beards! BEARDCORE! Check out the song "Prepare To Be Digitally Manipulated" and put your FISTS in the air!

Kings of the Universe are a music production duo and live act from Sweden, whose roots take their music back to the mid 70s and up through early house and electro. Citing such influences as D Train, Chaka Khan, Inner City, Loletta Holloway, Mr. Fingers, Marshall Jefferson and The O'Jays, the music of Kings of the Universe is great for listening to at home, in the car, or in the early or late hours at the club. It is disco and house and retro and current all at the same time.
Quickly gaining a reputation for their tight production skills, The duo have remixed 'Black & Gold' by Sam Sparro. They have also been featured on a custom USB Drive compilation released by New York clothing brand NAME Ribbon, alongside such artists as Spank Rock, Steed Lord and Blaqstarr.
You can get more info and listen to the sampler here: Get Familiar
Enjoy 3 free tracks from Kings of the Universe:
Kings of the Universe - Come Back Home :: Great classic house / disco feel. Very authentic feeling, even throws in a 303 acid line and some piano chords.
Kings of the Universe - Rules of Our House (Radio Edit) :: Another classic house throwback. I am loving these tracks. I am hoping these tunes will inspire a whole new generation to seek out and discover classic house circa mid to late '80s. I love to explore the music and history, and if you love these tracks, then that is where to find similar music. Look for artists such as Marshall Jefferson, Mr. Fingers, Larry Heard, DJ Pierre, Farley 'Jackmaster' Funk, Phuture, Armando, Steve 'Silk' Hurley, etc. If you want me to do a post about classic Chicago House, leave a comment! Back to this track, it is pure retro, jackin', classic acid house at it's best.
Kings of the Universe - Take It Easy :: This track again showcases some of their influences such as The O'Jays and Frankie Knuckles. It's got that nice smooth retro vibe and combines elements of the early house sound with elements of funk, r&b and disco.

It's been a quiet week on my end, and I wanted to apologize for that. Just recently started a new job, but next week we'll be back on schedule with new music posted up at least every other day. To make up for the lack of posts, we are packing tons of stuff into this post, so please continue reading!
Here in Portland, it was a pretty fun week. Thursday saw what I would say was one of the biggest and best Last Thursdays' to date. Last Thursday is a monthly event of food, live and DJ-ed music and all kinds of dope local artists selling their goods. What also makes Last Thursday so fun is the diversity of people. You've got people from all walks of life coming together for the sake of community and art and it is a lot of fun. We started off the night with a $2 glass of Merlot which was good. Then moved up the street for some grilled corn on the cob with butter and Parmesan cheese on it. Yummy!! Next for the food fare we had beef and veggie kebabs and a Thai iced tea, and on the way back to the car, we grabbed a hot fresh maple donut.
Another highlight was seeing a girl's 'talent' which was hula-hooping while balancing a sword on her head and playing two recorders with her nostrils. Unique? Yes. Talent? Maybe...not sure if I could do all that at once, but then again, it never occurred to me to do all that at once.
For all of you Portland heads, if you have not been to Last Thursday yet, check it out! The last Thursday of every month on NE Alberta Street.
Now for the first batch of music in the post, we'll start off with some mashup / sample happy madness from Girl Talk. Girl Talk is from Pittsburgh, PA, and has just recently released his 4th full-length album, 'Feed The Animals' which is available from Illegal Art. What is cool about the CD release, is he is doing a la Radiohead - go to the site, name your price, and download the entire album.
To entice you to buy the album, I am going to share a couple of tracks with you. These are sample-heavy collage pieces that make mashups look like child's play. Amazing stuff. Just try and figure out all the samples!
Girl Talk - Give Me A Beat :: This track is on the latest album - 'Feed The Animals'.
Girl Talk - I Want You Back :: This track is off of his prior album - 'Secret Diary'.
Be sure to visit Girl Talk on MySpace!
This afternoon, we got to enjoy the Red Bull Flugtag for the second time here in Portland. The Flugtag was here previously in 2004, and we are only the 3rd city to have the honor to host this fun event twice. If you have no idea what the Red Bull Flugtag is, click here.
Highlights of the day included a Lego, a hot dog, the Back to the Future car, a beer bottle that they uncapped and liquid came out, and a dragon boat that blew smoke out of the dragons' mouth. The distance record for the day was 62 feet, but all of the entries were fun to watch and the weather was perfect.
Now for some more music. Next up we've got new tracks from LAZRtag. The first track is a new original LAZRtag track featuring Whiskey Pete. The other track is the LAZRtag remix of Crystal Castles vs. Health - 'Crimewave'.
LAZRtag feat. Whiskey Pete - The Score
Crystal Castles vs. Health - Crimewave (LAZRtag harder remix)
Buy music from Crystal Castles at the Itunes store by clicking the link below:
For more on LAZRtag, be sure to check out this previous post.
Here is another pop song that has been remixed a lot, but we just got this remix and really liked it. It is a remix of 'I Kissed A Girl' by Katy Perry - remixed by DJ Cobra and Jess Jackson.
Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl (DJ Cobra and Jess Jackson remix)
You can buy the original version of the single from Amazon for .89 cents by clicking here: I Kissed A Girl

We'd like to remind everyone that the second installment of Dancefloor Mayhem - the internet broadcast - is on Techno.FM tomorrow night from 6pm - 8pm PST / 9pm - 11pm EST. We broadcast the show on the House Channel, so just find the house channel and click listen. In the show listings on the front page, it will tell you when we are live.
